How would you answer the Proust Questionnaire?

Sun, 10/18/2009 - 8:44PM by Lorelei LeFae 2 Comments - 22 Views

My answers are in bold - I've also posted this in Grantz's group so my apologies to any of you who get this in their unreads twice.

  1. What is your idea of perfect happiness? A cool autumn afternoon in the middle of a ton of rolling acerage with my friends and family near.
  2. What is your greatest fear? Falling from a great height.
  3. What historical figure do you most identify with? I read a lot of historical fiction from the Tudor era so these are the people who come immediately to mind - I feel like this question requires a bit more thought. For now I will say Elizabeth I.
  4. Which living person do you most admire? I have to say Angelina Jolie. I think the contributions she makes to humanity are very impressive.
  5. What is the trait that you most deplore in yourself? I overanalyze just about everything which takes a lot of energy and time. I wish I could just let things go now and then.
  6. What is the trait you most deplore in others? Cruelty
  7. What is your greatest extravagance? Books and music.
  8. On what occasion will you lie? When it will save a life.
  9. What do you dislike most about your appearance? My smile.
  10. When and where were you happiest? When I was pregnant with Audrey.
  11. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would be more frugal.
  12. I fyou could change one thing about your family, what would it be? We would travel more.
  13. What do you consider your greatest acheivement? Having a healthy, happy family.
  14. If you died and came back as a person or thing, what would it be? I would come back as a person and continue to collect life experience.
  15. What is your most treasured possession? A photograph of me sitting in my dad's lap with a huge grin on my face - I was 5.
  16. What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Saying goodbye to someone you love forever.
  17. Who are your heroes in real life? My father, My sister Stephanie, Paulo Coelho, Sun Tzu
  18. What is it that you most dislike? Ignorance and arrogance.
  19. How would you like to die? Peacefully
  20. What is your motto? Audio. Video. Disco.

By the way - You can take this questionnaire over at Vanity Fair.com and see how you compare to celebrities who have answered the questionnaire. Ray Charles and David Mamet were two who were similar to me. http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/proust-questionnaire

H09 - My Halloween Playlist.

Sun, 10/11/2009 - 9:29PM by Lorelei LeFae 6 Comments - 39 Views
I have been working on this for a few weeks - we have a Halloween Party the weekend after next and I am in charge of the playlist. It's going to be mixed company, but I imagine the kids won't be too wrapped up in the music. Let me know what you think.

ACL 2009 - Friday. The Walkmen and Kings of Leon

Fri, 10/02/2009 - 10:42PM by Lorelei LeFae 0 Comments - 5 Views
I didn't get a chance to see every one of these bands, but given the super human ability to be in two places at once, I would have seen the following today. Will speak on the shows I did see after the videos... School of Seven Bells - Half Asleep My future lover; Hamilton Leithauser with his Walkmen - Wake up The Walkmen - Four Provinces Dr. Dog - Heart it Races K'NAAN - Dreamer Choice was between Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kings of Leon. Impossible. I went with Kings... Cold Desert Closer I only really watched The Walkmen and Kings of Leon today. I caught a treat or two from a few others on my way from one to the other but it was a fantastic day. The weather was perfect. So far I adore ACL 2009. Tomorrow was sold out, so I'll miss And You Will Know Us by Our Trail of Dead, The Decembersits and Ghostland Observatory, but bygones. BBQ at my aunt's house tomorrow so I will hopefully be distracted enough that I will not despair too deeply that I am not at the ACL.

Has anyone seen Fierce People?

Sat, 09/26/2009 - 11:29PM by Lorelei LeFae 1 Comment - 9 Views
So good! Charming at first but then it became very dark and twisted. The cast was excellent. Kristen Stewart played the only role she knows, an awkward teenage princess. Then we have Charlie Bartlett and the always enchanting Diane Lane. Donald Sutherland rounds it out as King and Johnny Storm as the posh grandson with wicked ways. The story was captivating and the scenery was lovely. Enjoy it if you can.
